Taking Flight
Ready for take-off to a higher level of service
in the Arkansas Ozarks is the Ozark Regional Airport at Mountain
Home. With a new Master Plan for the future, airport leaders are
working toward expanded services and improved facilities at the
338-acre facility west of the county Industrial Park.
Future Improvements at Ozark Regional Airport
Immediate goals are an Instrument Landing
System with Precision Approach and resumption of scheduled carrier
service to regional hubs, such as St. Louis, Memphis, and Dallas-Fort
Worth. In late 2003, Congress appropriated $1 million for an ILS.
The DOT granted $574,000 for efforts to re-establish scheduled service
through the Small Community Air Service Development Pilot Program.
(This service ended just after the tragic events of 9/11/2001.)
Serving the Twin Lakes Area Since 1967
Ozark Regional Airport serves the public,
leaders of business and industry, private pilots, the Civil Air
Patrol, and the vital local tourism industry. Commissioners know
this airport's great potential to support the local economy when
future improvements proceed. |
